⚠️ Vehicle not as, quiet, smooth, responsive or economical as it used to be?
🚗 Here we have a lovely JCW Mini 1.6 (2008 – 88,548 miles) booked in for diagnostics and Engine Carbon Clean.
ℹ️ The owner had noticed a drop off in performance and a hesitation had crept in to the response.
🔎 Initial inspection found little of note in the engine bay with no obvious rattles or leaks although there was a bass note to the engine indicating the buildup present.
💻 Initial diagnostics found a couple of historic codes present in the engine section with a catalytic convertor downstream O2 sensor heater code and an auxiliary water pump activation code along with various other codes in other sections of the vehicle. We documented and cleared these and monitored what returned.
📊 Live data monitoring showed good values across the board and coolant temperature nice and hot.
👨🔧 On with the clean and the engine vibration soon dissipated and the bass note subsided and along with it the boom from the exhaust went also leaving a lovely burble with the usual pops you get from these. By the end it was lovely and quiet, smooth and responsive again.
