🚗 Here we have a Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi (2012 – 114,822 miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean.
ℹ️ The owner has owned this for a few years it and given he relies on this for his work wanted to get us to check it out and clean it up.
🔎 Initial inspection found little of note in the engine bay with no obvious rattles or leaks. There was a tell tale bass rumble to the engine and associated boom to the exhaust.
💻 Initial diagnostics found a couple of old codes in the electronics sections relating to a battery disconnect and a set of codes for the steering wheel controls (a common issue with these) which we documented and cleared for the owner.
📊 Live data monitoring showed good values for most components with injectors looking good, DPF data looking normal and coolant temperatures at 90°C.
👨🔧 On with the clean and after just ten minutes the bass note started to go, the engine smoothed out and quietened down and by the end it was much quieter, smooth and responsive again.
