🚗 Here we have an Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi (2006 – 151,328 miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean.
ℹ️ The owner had owned it for a couple of years and with it getting progressively noisier and sluggish wanted to get us to check it out and clean it up.
🔎 Initial inspection found little of note in the engine bay with a few rattles and no leaks. There was a significant tell tale bass rumble to the engine and associated boom to the exhaust. There was a fair amount of engine vibration also.
💻 Initial diagnostics found a couple of old codes in the engine section, one for the coolant fan, which we documented and cleared for the owner.
📊 Live data monitoring showed decent values for most components with injectors looking good, EGR moving well and with a replacement thermostat was nicely at temperature.
👨🔧 On with the clean and after just ten minutes the large amount bass noise had already gone, the engine smoothed out and quietened down and by the end it was much quieter, smooth and responsive again.
