🚗 Here we have a BMW 318d (2011 – 108,801 miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean.
ℹ️ The owner had recently had a DPF warning light on, so as a precautionary measure wanted to get it checked over and cleaned up to check for issues and restore lost performance.
🔎 Initial inspection found no major issues in the engine bay with a small amount of background noise from the chain and a bass note from the carbon present.
💻 Initial diagnostics showed no DPF related codes present and very few codes apart from a historic one for the EGR controller.
📊 Live data monitoring showed all data looking fine with coolant temperature up to a healthy 96°C, average regeneration data looking fine and all other data looking spot on.
❗ The recent DPF light was most likely due to the owner having recently had lots of short journeys, but mainly due to running on low fuel levels which will delay regeneration.
👨🔧 On with the clean and the engine soon smoothed out and quietened down and by the end it was quieter, smooth and responsive again.
