DPF issues usually have an underlying cause.
🔍 We focus on the underlying cause when performing our analysis of what is happening with a vehicle.
🛻 Here we have a Citroën C4 Picasso with symptoms of an intermittent DPF warning lights.
❗ The owner was originally looking for a DPF Clean, but as we found this would have been unnecessary as the DPF was NOT blocked. It was still able to regenerate and showed fairly recent regeneration, but codes and data confirming it wasn’t always able to.
⚠️ A DPF Clean is unnecessary and not recommended unless you have a blocked DPF.
🎯 The underlying cause with this one was primarily keeping the fuel levels low along with shorter journeys nowadays.
⚠️ Before regeneration will be attempted the vehicle needs to be warm enough (short journeys or old thermostats are an issue) and also enough fuel (approx ¼ tank minimum).
❗ A good rule of thumb for a diesel vehicle with a DPF is ALWAYS keep the fuel levels above ¼ tank.
☑️ Whilst here the owner opted for the Engine Carbon Clean to get the source of the dirt cleaned up and get it running smooth, quiet, responsive and economical again.
