🚗 Here we have a VW Passat 1.9 TDI (2004 – 187,222 miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean after it had logged turbo overboost codes when towing a caravan uphill.
🔎 Initial inspection found a lot of vibration in the engine bay, some wobble from engine mounts along with a heavy bass note from the carbon present.
💻 Initial diagnostics showed the historic overboost code in engine section, plus some other codes in other sections of the car related to A/C, etc.
📊 Live data monitoring showed the engine coolant maxing out at 82°C and dropping when tested – new #thermostat required. All other data looked within limits.
👨🔧 On with the clean and the engine soon smoothed out and really quietened down and by the end it was much quieter, smooth and responsive again.
