đŦ ‘Definitely felt a difference…running very smoothly and better throttle response too‘
â ī¸ Vehicle not as quiet, smooth, responsive or economical as it used to be?
đ Here we have a VW Golf 2.0 TDI (2006 – 133,742 miles) booked in for diagnostics and Engine Carbon Clean.
âšī¸ The owner had previously postponed due to turbo issues and with these rectified wanted to get it cleaned up. He had also reported an intermittent injector issue.
đ Initial inspection found little of note apart from vibration from a dirty engine with no sign of misfires or any other issue.
đģ Initial diagnostics showed codes due to an aftermarket head unit and the heater element for the auxiliary heater (common issue on VW group vehicles), but other than that no particular issues since the codes were last cleared.
đ Live data showed it running a little cool and temperature hovering around the 84°C mark throughout the clean – sign of a potential lazy thermostat. The injector deviation was showing values all withing tolerances and with all the other live data looking fine we proceeded.
đ¨âđ§ On with the clean and as the engine quietened down and smoothed out we could see the injector deviation trimming in from initial values. With the engine itself running much smoother and quieter an underlying gentle wobble did come to the fore – early engine mount wear. This is something the owner can keep an eye on going forward.
