⚠️ Car wobbling at idle? Engine Mounts may well be worn and a dirty engine is likely the culprit.
Here we have an Audi A4 2.0 TDI (2008 – 137,455 miles) booked in for diagnostics and Engine Carbon Clean.
ℹ️ The owner was finding the vehicle was getting sluggish and running rough with a noticeable vibration on idle and at low revs.
Initial inspection found quite a lot of bass rumble in the engine and a perceptible wobble on idle. Raising the revs beyond 1,300 rpm the engine evened out. Initial diagnosis looked like engine mount wobble.
Diagnostics showed some historic codes, but little else of note and live data looked OK across the board.
On with the clean and as we progressed the engine vibration smoothed out and the rumble subsided, but the wobble remained and came to the fore – classic symptoms of one or more engine mounts being worn. The owner can now get these looked at and replaced.
