Thermostat problems? A cold running engine is bad news for fuel economy, DPFs and carbon buildup.

⚠️ #didyouknow that a cold running #engine will
– cost you more at the pump ⛽
– increase your #emissions creating buildup faster 🌫️
– restrict or disable the #DPF #regeneration process (diesel)

📌 If you notice your engine/coolant temperature is low or dropping down when idling, driving or when you put the heater on then chances are you have a #thermostat problem.

🚗 Here we have an #Audi #A3 1.9 TDI (2007 – 135,388 miles) booked in for #diagnostics and Engine Carbon Clean as part of a discounted multi-vehicle booking.

❗ Pretty much all vehicles in the VW Group should get up to 90°C and then sit there.

⛑️ Initial health check identified this one idling at 75°C despite being warmed up and even with persistent revving (and the internal heating turned off to retain the heat in the engine bay) would not climb easily to the full 90°C.

📊 Diagnostics also brought up issues for
1) heated mirror faulty (passenger side)
2) heater element for auxiliary heater faulty

⚙️ With the above documented for the owner it was on with the clean and now quieter, smooth and responsive again.

🎯 The vehicle is booked in to have the thermostat replaced and get that #fueleconomy back to where it should be.
