⚠️ Vehicle not running like it should? Engine lights on?
Here we have a VW Golf R 2.0 petrol (2016 – 30,709 miles) booked in for diagnostics and potential clean with multiple misfires present.
📊 When we arrived the vehicle was running badly with 16 codes present in the engine section, a hide cylinder code, misfires on all cylinders logged and at the bottom of the list two codes relating to the MAP sensor.
With codes documented and cleared the MAP sensor low input code immediately reappeared. Working alongside the garage we removed the MAP sensor and checked it over and refitted it with the code still reappearing immediately and we agreed that it had to be either the sensor or the wiring so a new one was ordered and fitted.
Once fitted the issue remained so then it was a case of trying to track down the wiring issue . Eventually the garage found a worn wire sheath allowing the wire to short against the gearbox.
With the misfire codes cleared we proceeded with the clean on a preventative basis and by the end the bass purr in the engine present at the start was gone and the response had returned.
