Failed MOT – Iveco Daily (2006 – 92,879 miles) – EGR, thermostat and lambda sensor errors

⚠️ Rely on a vehicle for work?

🚗 Here we have an Iveco Daily (2006 – 92,879 miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean after it had just FAILED MOT on emissions plus an engine light on.

🔎📊 Initial visual inspection found little of note and an initial code read showed 3 errors…

1️⃣ EGR Regulation Error
2️⃣ Lambda Sensor
3️⃣ Accelerator/Brake Pedal suspect

🔎🔎 Further inspecrion of the live data showed EGR movement (but not full range) and also coolant temperature getting to a maximum of just 78°C.

❗ An EGR fault causing the Engine Light and contributing to emissions, lambda sensor errors either contributing to or as a result of raised emissions and a thermostat not closing properly causing high emissions (plus poor fuel economy).

🧑‍🔧 The owner still opted for the clean and by the end it was quiet, smooth and responsive again and the owner can now sort out the EGR fault, replace the thermostat and investigate the lambda sensor issue.
