🚗 Here we have a VW Scirocco 2.0 petrol TDI (2009 – 76,943 miles) booked in for diagnostics and Engine Carbon Clean after the owner was concerned regarding increasing smells from the exhaust, declining performance and an uneven idle which had developed.
🔎 Initial inspection found little of note in the engine bay with no obvious rattles, leaks and although a bass purr was present it was running OK given the mileage. There was an increased emissions smell and the idle was rough .
💻 Initial diagnostics found little of note regarding the engine section so we documented and cleared what was present for the owner.
📊 Live data showed good coolant temperatures, but the system a little rich which would explain the emission smells. Other than that all else looked fairly normal.
👨🔧 On with the clean and the bass note soon dissipated and with time the idle smoothed out and the response returned.
