â ī¸ Engine Lights on? Running issues? Vehicle not as quiet, smooth, responsive, economical or emissions friendly as it used to be?
đ Here we have a Vauxhall Zafira 1.7 CDTI (2014 – 75,158 miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean.
âšī¸ The owner had an engine light on and had an EGR error despite having it replaced twice by a local garage. He wanted us to investigate and whilst there perform an Engine Carbon Clean.
đ Initial inspection found no obvious issues in the engine bay.
đģ Initial diagnostics found two EGR errors which we documented, cleared and monitored for the owner.
1 – EGR circuit – reappeared immediately
2 – EGR Valve Stuck – this took 10 minutes to reappear and triggered the Engine Light.
đ Live data monitoring showed decent values across the board apart from the EGR movement flat-lined at 0.
â This pattern of behaviour would indicate an electrical circuit error and with the hardware being replaced twice and still the same issue then most likely an error upstream in the wiring, etc.
đ¨âđ§ On with the clean and it soon smoothed out, quietened down and by the end it was quiet, smooth and responsive again and the owner can now get the EGR circuit dealt with.
