đ Here we have a VW Golf 1.9 TDI (2004 – 133,543 miles) booked in for diagnostics and Engine Carbon Clean.
âšī¸ The owner has in the past had a new turbo and EGR issues and wanted to get it diagnosed and cleaned up to alleviate issues going forward and get it running sweetly again. A new thermostat has already been fitted due to temperature issues.
đ Initial inspection found a fair bit of vibration and associated bass noise from the engine due to the buildup present.
đģ Initial diagnostics found codes present for the Coolant Temperature Sensor and also Cylinder 2 Glow Plug.
đ Live data monitoring showed good coolant temperature between 94°C and only dropping to 85°C when tested. Injector fuelling looked OK, but a little higher than ideal.
đ¨âđ§ On with the clean and the engine soon smoothed out and quietened down, but as the engine vibration diminished as it cleaned up a tell tale wobble was left behind – minor wear on the engine mounts.
Now much quieter, smooth and responsive again and the owner has a list of bits and pieces to get looked at to get it back to its best.
