đ ‘I had Adrian come to run diagnostics and do a carbon clean on my Volvo XC90 a couple of months ago, unfortunately on the day he couldn’t do the carbon clean as the diagnostics found quite a few fault codes that needed rectifying. Now knowing what problems I had I could get them repaired and Adrian told me to contact him at a later date to do the clean as doing it at that time would of been a waste of my money. I contacted Adrian who got me in again quite quickly after I’d had the faults sorted and he did the carbon clean and I must say I’ve noticed more power and also the constant smell of fumes has gone now, which has been awful all the time that I’ve had the car. He was honest and informed me that a carbon clean won’t clear the manifold or the EGR and that these needed to be cleaned manually which I can now get sorted. â ī¸ Running issues? Not as smooth, quiet, responsive or economical as it used to be?
đ Here we have a Volvo XC90 (2010 – 179,939 miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean.
âšī¸ The owner had recently had running issues, increasing levels of noise, smell, smoke and general worsening performance.
đ Initial inspection on first visit found swirl flap issues and amongst many other problems and no clean performed on the day. Back today and running much better, but still noisy, smoky and generally sluggish.
đģ Initial diagnostics showed just one engine code remaining now for an oil sensor which they knew about.
đ Live data monitoring showed available data looking OK with coolant temperature at a healthy 95°C, but some over-fuelling due to the carbon present.
đ¨âđ§ On with the clean and the engine soon smoothed out and quietened down and by the end it was much quieter, smooth and responsive again with no smoke and no fumes.
