⚠️ Vehicle not as quiet, smooth, responsive or economical as it used to be? Running issues?
🚗 Here we have a Peugeot 308 1.6 HDi (2010 – 88,670 miles) booked in for diagnostics consultation and Engine Carbon Clean after recently having an engine management light (EML) on due to injectors.
🔎 Initial inspection found very low coolant levels. Before we went any further we topped this up to normal levels. Initially it stayed topped up and then dropped again, but after a second fill it stayed constant. Initial diagnostics found the same codes that had been found by the roadside assist – injectors beyond learning limits. With the coolant topped up and staying level for now and with coolant temperatures looking OK we continued carefully keeping a close eye on the coolant levels.
📊 Live data for the injectors showed them at their max tolerance levels and with all other data looking within tolerances we continued onto the clean.
👨🔧 The significant bass rumble present soon dissipated and thru engine smoothed out and quietened down. Towards the end of the session the coolant levels suddenly dropped again, but enough stayed in to continue. Now running quiet and smooth again and the owner can now get the coolant system checked for leaks.
