đ Here we have a Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi (2010 – 87,946 miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean.
âšī¸ The vehicle had recently started popping the Engine Management Light and engine malfunction message. Having used us a couple of years ago the owner booked us in for a diagnostic consultation and/or Engine Carbon Clean.
đ Initial inspection found no obvious rattles, but a leak in one of the rubber hoses.
đģ Initial diagnostics showed turbo underboost codes and MAF sensor codes which correlated with the split pipe.
đ Live data monitoring showed all other data looking fine apart from it running a little cool at a maximum of 81°C. A new thermostat also would be advisable to maximise the return on fuel economy and bring the emissions down.
đ¨âđ§ We patched up the pipe as a temporary measure and proceeded with the clean.
The engine soon smoothed out and quietened down and by the end it was much quieter, smooth and responsive again. With a replaced pipe and thermostat this should be back to its best.
