⚠️ Vehicle not as quiet, smooth, responsive or economical as it used to be?
🚗 Here we have a Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi (2013 – 100,870 miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean. The owner had noticed a drop in performance and a stutter developing when changing gear every now and again.
🔎 Initial inspection found no obvious issues in the engine bay, but there was significant vibration, rumble and lack of response from the carbon present. Also a slight wobble perhaps from some early engine mount wear.
💻 Initial diagnostics showed no issues present.
📊 Live data monitoring showed coolant temperature at 95°C, good EGR flow and movement, recent DPF regeneration and injector fuelling looking all within limits (very slight over fuel on injector 1).
👨🔧 On with the clean and the engine soon smoothed out and quietened down and by the end it was much quieter, smooth and responsive again.
