Here we have an Audi A3 2.0 TDI (2007 – 157, 821miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean.
ℹ️ Booked in with some black smoke issues on acceleration and overall decline in performance and economy over the years. The owner's partner had used us before on a vehicle so recommended it was checked out and cleaned up.
Initial inspection found no apparent issues in the engine bay with no rattles or leaks, just a bass note from the carbon present and a very minor chatter on the clutch.
Initial diagnostics showed open circuit codes for glow plugs 1 and 2 plus various other historic and active codes scattered throughout the car. We documented, cleared and documented the returning culprits so the owner could get those looked at.
Live data monitoring showed all data looking fine with coolant temperature around 94°C, decent injector fuelling levels and all other data looking OK.
On with the clean and the engine soon smoothed out and quietened down and by the end it was much quieter, smooth and responsive again.
