Here we have a Ford Transit Connect 1.8d (2011 – 86,443 miles) booked in for diagnostics and Engine Carbon Clean after the owner wanted to get it back to its best.
Initial inspection found little of note in the engine bay and although a bass note was present from buildup it wasn't as bad as could be for the mileage.
Initial diagnostics found a number of historic codes where a mouse had chewed through a cable. With that now resolved these cleared away and didn't reappear.
Live data looked good apart from a slight over fuel on injector 3. The thermostat coped well with the testing and stayed above 83°C and quickly recovered back up to 91°C. With all other data looking good we proceeded with the clean.
The bass note soon subsided and the engine smoothed out, quietened down and by the end was nice and quiet and responsive again.
