⚠️ DPF Light on frequently?
Here we have a Vauxhall Corsa 1.7 CDTI (2013 – 66,291 miles) booked in for diagnostics consultation to assess the cause and then a subsequent Engine Carbon Clean.
ℹ️ The owner has switched from doing longer journeys to doing very short journeys recently.
✴️ To regenerate properly a vehicle needs to have enough fuel and also be up to temperature before it will attempt to.
❗ Beyond that it will also check for glowplugs, temperature sensors, pressure sensors, a working EGR and any other engine code can be enough to stop it regenerating depending on the make and model. Fixing any underlying issues such as these is normally enough to get a vehicle regenerating again with NO NEED for a DPF Clean.
❗ Glowplugs are used not only when starting a diesel, but also when regenerating to preheat the fuel used in regeneration. Glowplugs and thermostats are very common issues hampering regeneration.
Initial diagnostics on this one looked clear and after looking through all the live data it appeared all was in good order. After the last long journey the DPF light went out.
Thankfully this one looks like it is just down to short journeys. With that in mind we proceeded with an Engine Carbon Clean to clean up the source of the dirt as…

2️⃣ less emissions = less soot entering the DPF
3️⃣ less soot collected = less frequent regenerations
4️⃣ fewer regenerations = fuel saving and fewer issues
On with the clean and it soon quietened down and smoothed out and by the end was nice and quiet and smooth again.
