Thermostat

⚠️ Thermostats do an important job at keeping engine temperatures at just the right level so the engine is at peak fuel efficiency.

️ Misbehaving thermostats can lead to no end of problems (and unless you know what to look for will go unnoticed as they typically don’t trigger diagnostics codes) and many cars do not have a coolant temperature display (as pictured above) at all.

❄️ A cold running car will be inefficient and create higher emissions (making a car get dirtier quicker, using more fuel than it should and if a diesel with a DPF can stop the regeneration process).

A hot running car may well overheat if the radiator fans can’t cope.

Our diagnostics consultation (included with every booking) will assess the thermostat as part of the service.
