â ī¸ Just bought a vehicle? Service or MOT due? Or maybe just not seen us for a while?
đ Here we have a recently purchased Mercedes A180 CDI (2013 – 101,685 miles) booked in for vehicle diagnostic inspection and Engine Carbon Clean.
âšī¸ The owner had booked us to come not long after purchase (997 miles) to look for issues and clean it up.
đ Initial inspection found no obvious issues in the engine bay.
đģ Initial diagnostics found a few bits and pieces had appeared since purchase. The codes had been cleared prior to purchase 997 miles ago. The history was saved and sent to the owner.
đ Live data monitoring showed decent values all round apart from a negative value on the DPF pressure sensor which goes further negative when revving.
đ¤ Things became more interesting when checking back on the regeneration history. The vehicle hadn’t regenerated for 997 miles and the previous 10 regenerations had mostly failed due to a fault.
â Along with the negative values for the pressure sensor we can only presume that potentially the pressure sensor had been replaced (hence no codes), but either wired or piped the wrong way round.
đ¨âđ§ On with the clean and it soon smoothed out, quietened down and by the end it was quiet, smooth, responsive and economical again.
â The owner can now get the warranty company involved regarding the DPF sensor.
