Here we have a Vauxhall Insignia 1.8 petrol (2011 – 116,995 miles) booked in with an intermittent engine management light (EML) and very low MPG.
A significant amount of deep bass purr to the engine indicated a large amount of buildup making the engine labour and hence over fuel.
📊 To clear the EML last time the owner disconnected the battery so unfortunately the diagnostics was clear giving no clue to the issue.
⚙️ On with the clean and the bass purr dissipated rapidly. The live data showed no particular issue with the fuel trim data and we could not get the EML to trigger at warm idle.
