⚠️ An accumulation of carbon in an engine means it will vibrate more and if left to get excessive the vibration will cause wear and tear on ancillary components.
🚗 Here we have a Mercedes ML270 (2001 – 155,234 miles) booked in for diagnostics consultation and Engine Carbon Clean.
ℹ️ The owner wanted to get it looked at as there was an excessive wobble at idle and a roughness at low revs and given the age and mileage was not running smooth and economically any more.
🔎📊 Initial checks confirmed a wobble at idle and significant engine vibration and boom. Initial diagnostics scan showed lots of historic codes from many years of driving which we documented, emailed and then cleared for the owner.
👨🔧 On with the clean and the vibration and rumble soon subsided as the engine cleaned up nicely, but the wobble then came to the fore. The likely culprit is worn engine mounts given the wobble is in the idle-1,200rpm rev range.
