⚠️ Vehicle due a service? Don’t delay an oil change as oil deterioration can stop a DPF regeneration.
ℹ️ Ideal time for a diagnostic health check and Engine Carbon Clean is about 1 week prior to a service. That way you get it checked, issues identified ready for the service, plus fresh oil into a fresh engine ready for the road ahead.
Here we have a multi-vehicle booking with:
– a Mercedes A150 petrol booked in with an airbag light on and poor fuel economy.
– a Vauxhall Zafira 1.7 CDTI (2014 – 103,540 miles) with DPF problems and poor fuel economy
The Mercedes was a relatively straightforward diagnostics and clean and transformed the engine which was very dirty due to just doing short journeys. Lovely, quiet and crisp with the feedback from the owner ‘didn’t even realise it was running’.
📊 Diagnostics in the Mercedes highlighted the passenger seat occupancy sensor was the culprit for the airbag light.
🔎 The Vauxhall Zafira warranted some investigation. The only code was related to oil deterioration.
ℹ️ This can genuinely be down to old oil, or can be where repeated regeneration attempts have contaminated the oil with diesel. We manually checked the oil level which was OK and also smelled it to detect any diesel. After chatting to the owner it was clear the car was due an oil change so we advised this was done asap.
After documenting and clearing the codes the vehicle attempted to regenerate and failed again, triggering the oil deterioration code again.
With this in mind we crept it through an Engine Carbon Clean and the owner has it booked in tomorrow for the oil change.
Once the oil has been changed it should successfully regenerate again.
