⚠️ Vehicle not running like it should? Not as quiet, smooth, responsive, economical or emissions friendly as it used to be?
🚗 Here we have a Toyota Yaris 1.4d (2004 – 157, 046 miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean.
ℹ️ The owner had booked us in due to the age and mileage, but especially to diagnose an intermittent power loss issue.
🔎 Initial inspection found no obvious issues in the engine bay.
💻 Initial diagnostics found a glow plug heater circuit code and the culprit – Accelerator Position Sensor Circuit.
📊 Live data monitoring showed decent values elsewhere, but coolant temperature would only get to 82°C and dropped rapidly when putting the cabin heating on – new Thermostat required.
👨🔧 On with the clean and it soon smoothed out, quietened down and by the end it was quiet, smooth and responsive again. The owner can now get the Accelerator Position Sensor issue resolved and replace the thermostat.
