đ Here we have a Toyota Hilux 2.4 diesel (2000 – 236,222 miles) booked in to investigate black smoke issues and an Engine Carbon Clean.
âšī¸ The owner was in the process of getting it roadworthy again.
đ Initial inspection found a number of issues.
– A split in the intake pipe.
– Engine running cold
– Noisy rumble and chatter
The black smoke issues will be down to over fuelling due to a combination of the air leak, the thermostat and the build up present (exacerbated by the other two).
The engine noise is down to a combination of the carbon buildup present along with a chattering clutch.
đ¨âđ§ We patched up the intake pipe, got this as warm as possible and then proceeded with the clean and it soon smoothed out, quietened down and by the end it was quiet, smooth and responsive again (albeit with a chattering clutch).
The owner can now get the issues addressed.
