⛽ How’s your fuel economy?

‘It drives wonderful, started with 537 in the tank before the clean after a trip down and up the A1 to Peterborough then a trip to Bourne last night I now have 563 miles to empty, thank you sir and yes I will be getting you out to the MG in the future ‘

Here we have a BMW 118d (2013 – 90, 380 miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean.

ℹ️ The owner had no major issues, but wanted us to investigate for issues and clean up the engine to help with fuel economy, etc.

Initial inspection found no major issues in the engine bay and running pretty well with just a small amount of bass note.

Initial diagnostics showed no engine codes and just a few historic codes logged in other parts of the car. We documented and cleared these for the owner.

Live data monitoring showed all live data looking good with coolant temperature at 92-97°C when stress tested, good EGR movement and DPF regeneration working well.

‍On with the clean and the engine soon smoothed out and quietened down and by the end it was quieter, smooth and responsive again.

I had issues with my DPF on my 4.4 Range Rover so hot in touch with F5 and Leon came out to me to carry out a DPF clean. Not only did he tell me exactly what he was going to do but carried out a full diagnostic on my car just to see if there was any underlying issues other than dpf. He gave a really good explanation of the process as he checked all the boost pipes and inter coolers for leaks He couldn’t have been anymore friendly than he was and certainly knew his stuff. Dpf all unblocked and engine is back to normal. Couldn’t recommend F5 enough.

Just had my car done by F5ECC. Adrian talked me though how the process works. This is the second Merc I have had done by him in 2020. C250cdi and now a C350e sport. Noticed straight away more mpg. The car felt a lot smoother on acceleration. I was quite shocked at how much quicker and responsive the car was when I put it in sport+. I highly recomend having this done.
