Own a BMW diesel? Regular diagnostics checks are essential to ensure the glowplug system and thermostats are working properly otherwise you will run into DPF problems.

Here we have a BMW 530D booked in for diagnostics and Engine Carbon Clean with no apparent running issues.

📊 Diagnostics showed 10 engine codes with a mixture of DPF, turbo and glowplug codes. Once documented and cleared all 6 glow plug codes reappeared which is a sign that the glow plug control box has gone (already booked in for a replacement by the owner).

Diagnostics live data showed the backpressure on the DPF was borderline and the vehicle has not regenerated for 3,600km.

Given the pressure is borderline and after a discussion with the owner we have performed an Engine Carbon Clean and fingers crossed when the control box is replaced then the regeneration process will spring back into life.

If not then we can schedule in a DPF clean.
