⚠️ Black smoke on acceleration? Poor MPG?
🚗 Here we have a Mercedes C220 (2008 – 148,837 miles) booked in as the owner had reported poor MPG on this one so had contacted us for diagnostics and Engine Carbon Clean.
🔎 Upon arrival we could immediately detect what sounded like an injector leak and sure enough after the removing the engine cover and foam protection above the injectors we found the leaking injector.
No clean on this one. With any kind of boost or injector leak it…
– wouldn’t clean properly
– wouldn’t be safe
– wouldn’t resolve the customer issue
– would just get dirty again really quickly.
🚫 Clean abandoned, but we completed the diagnostic work and can return at a later date.
💻 Initial diagnostics found an issue with the electric heater booster and also the glow plug controller.
📊 Live data conformed that Injector 1 was over fuelling considerably which explains the poor fuel economy.
👍 The owner can now get this resolved and call us back to finish off the booking at a later date.
