⛔ We did NOT proceed with the clean due to issues discovered with our diagnostic consultation.
A BMW 318D (2011 – 103,654 miles) booked in for diagnostics and Engine Carbon Clean
Issues found:
1️⃣ Diagnostic codes showed an exhaust back pressure issue and an injector issue
2️⃣ Live data for the DPF (part of our health check) identified it had not regenerated for 1,273 miles and elevated (yet erratic) backpressure readings. Likely a misbehaving differential pressure sensor.
3️⃣ Coolant temperature checks identified lazy thermostats causing low coolant temperatures (which would disable DPF regeneration). Needs new thermostats (EGR+main).
In addition we spotted some missing clips from the intake system.
We documented the above for the owner and advised he get it back to the garage under warranty.
