🚗 Here we have a Nissan X-Trail 2.2 dci (2006 – 124,513 miles) booked in after recently being purchased by the owner. Unsure of the vehicle history he wanted to get it checked out and cleaned up ready for the road ahead.
🔎 Initial inspection showed very little of note, but there was a significant amount of vibration and associated bass noise from the engine and the excessive vibration was making something rattle underneath. There was also a tappy noise present. Initial code check found no codes present.
📊 Live data monitoring showed all temperatures where they should be and with all the other live data within tolerances it was time to get it cleaned up.
👨🔧 Just 10 minutes into the clean and the bass note had diminished significantly. Approximately 30 minutes in and the tappy noise had disappeared, the rattle also started to lessen and after 40 minutes the rattle disappeared. Although not fixed, whatever was rattling was no longer being shaken by the engine vibration. By the end it was quiet, smooth and responsive again.
