🚗 Here we have a VW Passat 2.0 TDI (2008 – 89,807 miles) recently acquired by the owner who has used us on a previous occasion.
🔎 Initial inspection found little of note with no major rattles or excessive vibration and no wobble from engine mount wear.
💻 Initial diagnostics showed a couple of historic codes as well as an active code for the driver side heated door mirror circuit (most likely needs a new heated mirror glass on that side).
📊 Live data monitoring showed the EGR behaving itself and injector deviation amounts between 0.3 and 0.14 mg/str when we started – running pretty sweetly already.
🌡️ One thing of note was the coolant temperature wouldn’t go above 85°C no matter how hard we tried and with the cabin fans on it dropped down to 80°C. Given the age of the vehicle we recommended a new thermostat to get it running back efficiently again.
👨🔧 On with the clean and although running pretty nicely already the engine note crispened up as we proceeded and by the end was quiet, smooth and responsive again with injector deviation down to between 0.09 and 0.01 mg/str.
