Jaguar XF Diagnostic Consultation ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ‘Today Adrian came out and did a diagnostics and carbon clean on my Jaguar XF. Adrian explained the pros and cons in doing the carbon clean. Adrian carried out a diagnostics on the car explaining in detail and cleared and sent also the data with two issues which were not engine related. Adrian carried out the work in a professional manner I would recommend him. I’ve put the car in Eco mode and taken the car for a drive and yes I’ve noticed the difference in throttle response and how quiet the car is too. Also the stop start has started working again. No major issues, more for preventative maintenance.
Initial inspection found no obvious issues in the engine bay with no excessive rattles and shakes, but a tell tale rumble in the engine from the carbon present.

Plus an active code for heated washer jets and an active code for windshield misting sensor
Live data showed acceptable coolant temperature in the mid to high 80s and all other data looking fine.
On with the clean and It soon smoothed out, quietened down and by the end it was quiet, smooth and responsive again

Can you carbon clean a petrol engine?
Yes. All hydrocarbon engines create carbon build up depending on the mileage, driving style, journey length and fuel quality used. What are signs of carbon build up?
Typical symptoms include a decline in fuel economy, noisier engine, increased vibration, sluggish response and smoke/emissions levels. As fuel economy and emission targets have got stricter over the years the engine components have been developed and added in order to keep the soot within the vehicle rather than passing it out through the exhaust. This then clogs up EGR valves, inlet manifolds and DPFs.
