❗Customer and vehicle safety comes first. Here we have another vehicle where although we could potentially proceed, but it is better to sort out the issues first and then return for the clean element of the booking at a later date.
🚗 A Honda Accord 2.2 diesel (2006 – 170,834 miles) booked in for diagnostics and Engine Carbon Clean after a history of little puffs of black smoke gradually getting worse and performance slowly dropping off.
🔎 Initial inspection picked up a faint but discernable chuffing noise from below the engine cover and upon inspection we found a leaking injector.
The wise move at this point is to get the injector leak sorted first and then return for the clean at a later date so the booking proceeded as a diagnostic only booking.
ℹ️ An injector leak will produce black smoke from over fuelling and will explain the symptoms on this one. It will have also created excessive levels of carbon so once fixed then the clean will be the priority.
📊 On with the diagnostics and some historic codes showed some voltage issues in the electrics linked to battery regulation which the owner can now get checked out along with sealing or replacing the injector if necessary.
