🚗 Here we have a VW Golf TDI (2009 – 99,626 miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean after it had FAILED MOT on emissions. Re-tested immediately after the clean and it PASSED 👌
🔎 Initial inspection found no major issues in the engine bay with no rattles or leaks, just a very slight wobble from engine mounts and a slight chatter from the flywheel along with a heavy bass note from the carbon present.
💻 Initial diagnostics showed no errors in the engine section, with just a couple of other bits and pieces in other sections of the car.
📊 Live data monitoring showed the engine coolant maxing out at 92°C and all other data within limits. The temperature did drop further than would have liked when tested, but did pick back up again (lazy thermostat).
👨🔧 On with the clean and the engine soon smoothed out and quietened down and by the end it was quieter, smooth and responsive again.
