Good pull from the clutch and a smooth crawl in 1st and 2nd.. picks up better from lower revs now too. Looks like a lot of the improvement is in the lower end.‘

⚠️ Vehicle not as quiet, smooth, responsive or economical as it used to be? Running issues?

🚗 Here we have a VW Passat 2.0 TDI (2007 – 121,992 miles) booked in for diagnostics and Engine Carbon Clean.

ℹ️ The owner has used us previously and with more mileage on the clock and starting issues recently wanted to get it checked out and cleaned up.

🔎 Initial inspection of the engine bay found little of note, although there was a very slight wobble from very early engine mount wear.

💻 Initial diagnostics found a number of codes present which we documented for the owner and cleared down, but the key one which kept reappearing was for

• P2511 Power Relay Sense Circuit intermittent.

This would clear, but reappear in approx 30 seconds on a consistent basis and would certainly explain the starting issues.

📊 Live data monitoring showed injector deviation within tolerances, temperatures normal and other data looking fine.

👨‍🔧 On with the clean and the engine soon smoothed out and quietened down and by the end was quiet, smooth and responsive again. The slight engine wobble was there still from engine mount wear, only really noticeable when the revs dropped almost to idle.

❗ We suggested the owner replace the Power Relay asap as a first step.
