⚠️Vehicle not as quiet, smooth, responsive or economical as it used to be? Running issues?
🚗 Here we have a Range Rover Vogue Supercharged 4.2 V8 (2006 – 118,936 miles) booked in for diagnostics and Engine Carbon Clean after not really running properly since he acquired it.
🔎 Initial visual inspection found little of note, but with an erratic idle, occasional misfires and general noisy engine this waste obviously not running like it should.
💻 Initial diagnostics found lots of historic codes and multiple engine codes. Once documented and cleared the MAP sensor high input code reappeared almost immediately with the system running lean codes and additional MAP sensor code following shortly after.
📊 Live data showed the thermostat operating fine and other data looking OK, but the Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor giving erratic readings. The occasional misfire could also be observed.
👨🔧 After discussing the need for the MAP sensor to be potentially cleaned or replaced and also the manifold may need to be removed and cleaned separately he still wanted the Engine Carbon Clean performed. Just 10 minutes in the idle was smoother and the engine much quieter and by the end it was quiet, smooth and responsive again. Still an occasional hiccup, but the issue narrowed down and a plan of action for the owner.
