đ Here we have an Audi A4 2.0 TDI (2007 – 115,994 miles) booked in for diagnostics and Engine Carbon Clean.
âšī¸ The owner was aware that it wasn’t as good on fuel as it should be, had increased noise and vibration and was generally not as smooth and responsive as it ought to be. There was also increased exhaust smells.
đ Initial inspection found a wobble on idle which was due to engine mount wear (the owner was already aware and had it on the to do list). There was a slight background noise which could indicate a small blow from the exhaust which correlates with the exhaust smell. Otherwise there was just the tell tale vibration and associated bass rumble from the buildup present.
đģ Initial diagnostics found little of note with just a few miscellaneous codes in other sections of the car such as air-conditioning and electrics.
đ Live data monitoring showed good injector fuelling apart from a slight increase on injector 4 (likely from the engine mount). Coolant temperatures were nice and warm and did not dive when tested indicating it probably had a replacement thermostat at some point. DPF data was also consistent with normal regeneration patterns and everything else looked fine.
đ¨âđ§ On with the clean and the engine vibration and associated bass rumble soon dissipated as it smoothed out, but the wobble from the engine mount remained. By the end it was quiet, smooth and responsive again.
