đ Here we have a Vauxhall Astra 1.9 CDTi (2007 – 133,537 miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean.
âšī¸ The owner had reported loss of power, low MPG and black smoke issues.
đ Initial inspection immediately found a hissing noise and identified a rubber pipe that had worn through from vibration from the engine cover. We quickly patched this up with gaffer tape and advised the owner to get this replaced asap. This should sort out the power/smoke issues đ in addition there was another vibration which suggests something is slightly off balance and this needs to be inspected at a garage.
đģ Initial diagnostics found a glow device general error code present which typically indicates the glow plug relay/control box.
đ Live data monitoring showed coolant temperatures all good indicating the thermostat is performing well and all other data looked good.
đ¨âđ§ On with the clean and given the boost leak issues there was quite a lot of buildup now present creating quite a lot of vibration. This soon dissipated and by the end the engine was quiet, smooth and responsive again.
