🚗 Here we have a Vauxhall Astra 1.8 petrol (2009 – 99,800 miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean.
ℹ️ No apparent running issues, but the owner wanted to get it checked out and cleaned up as part of a multi-vehicle booking.
🔎 Initial inspection found a noise coming from the dipstick not being in place properly (which we rectified and the engine settled down) and the fan was also running more often than it should.
💻 Initial diagnostics showed a code for ‘Coolant Thermostat Valve Stuck’ which explained the fan behaviour. Other historic codes were present which we documented and cleared.
📊 Live data monitoring showed all other data looking fine apart from it running warm. Thankfully the fan was keeping things in check.
👨🔧 On with the clean and the engine soon smoothed out and quietened down and by the end it was much quieter, smooth and responsive again. The owner can now address the thermostat valve issue.
