🚗 Here we have a Nissan Primastar 1.9 (2006 – 177,252 miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean.
ℹ️ The vehicle was booked in due to being sluggish, noisy and poor on fuel compared to what it used to be. The owner had previously had EGR issues dealt with separately and now wanted to get the source of the dirt cleaned up.
🔎 Initial inspection found no obvious rattles or leaks, but there was a tell tale bass rumble to the engine and sluggishness underfoot.
💻 Initial diagnostics found an old code for the EGR which was expected – we documented and cleared for the owner.
📊 Live data monitoring showed decent values for most components with water temperature up just below 90°C. Injector fuelling was a little off at the start of the clean and trimmed in nicely towards the end with just a slight overfuel left on one at the end perhaps due to some wear.
👨🔧 On with the clean and after just ten minutes the bass note started to go, the engine smoothed out and quietened down and by the end it was much quieter, smooth and responsive again.
