⛽ How’s your fuel economy?
🎯 A restoration of fuel recovery on this fully laden Ford Transit was very welcome for the owner getting it back up to approx 39 MPG from a lowly 28-34.
🚗 Here we have a Ford Transit 2.2 TDCI (2014 – 175,245 miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean.
ℹ️ Booked in with declining fuel economy and the engine losing its refinement. The owner has used us before on multiple occasions and does high mileage, but with lockdowns left it longer this time between visits.
🔎 Initial inspection found no apparent issues in the engine bay with no rattles or leaks, just a bass note from the carbon present since we last visited.
💻 Initial diagnostics again showed a single historic code present (which was also present on our last visit) for invalid data from the ABS so no news there.
📊 Live data monitoring showed all data looking fine with coolant temperature at 93-99°C, DPF values showing approx 25% soot, nice injector fuelling and all other data looking spot on.
👨🔧 On with the clean and the engine soon smoothed out and quietened down and by the end it was quieter, smooth and responsive again.
