Diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean on a Ford Fiesta van (2009 – 82,969 miles)

🗣️ ‘It’s spot on mate sounds brilliant too. Van booked in for crank shaft sensor replacement and a fuel sensor replacement too 👌🤙’

Here we have a Ford Fiesta van (2009 – 82,969 miles) booked in for a diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean.

Booked in due to declining performance, but most importantly an intermittent drive train error flashing up on the dashboard had been occurring recently and the owner wanted to get to the bottom of the issue as a few places had not found the cause.

This issue had manifested itself initially as just a drive train error warning on the dashboard, but on one occasion the vehicle refused to turn over when attempting to start it for almost 20 minutes before it finally restarted.

📊 Initial diagnostics confirmed 3 sensor codes in the code history, all circuit errors and the most important one affecting the starting was the crankshaft sensor circuit. A failing sensor or wiring loom/connector issue would cause this behaviour. We documented the errors for the owner and recommended replacement of the crankshaft sensor as a first course of action.

⚙️ On with the clean we after we cleared the codes they did not reappear for the duration of the session indicating an intermittent issue or just one which presents itself once driven. Just 10 minutes in and the engine started to smooth out and quieten down and by the end was quiet, smooth and responsive again.
