Here we have a BMW 330d (2014 – 81,911 miles) booked in for diagnostics consultation and Engine Carbon Clean as a preventative measure. Kept in very good condition and the owner wanted to keep it that way.
Initial inspection found little of note with a nicely running engine. A subtle bass note to the engine indicated it was running pretty sweetly, but needed a clean to get it back to its best.
Initial diagnostics found a fair few intermittent codes which we documented and cleared for the clean owner and none of them reappeared throughout the duration of the clean.
Live data showed the vehicle in excellent health with 351 miles since the last DPF regeneration, soot levels and backpressure values indicating a regeneration would be imminent and coolant temperatures holding nicely between 85-93°C when performing our thermostat tests.
On with the clean and although running nicely already it smoothed out and quietened down and was sweet by the end.
