⚠️ Vehicle not as quiet, smooth, responsive or economical as it used to be?

Here we have a BMW 320d (2009 – 210,250 miles) booked in for diagnostic consultation and Engine Carbon Clean.

ℹ️ The owner had used our services previously and with having some hesitation, power loss and an annoying DPF warning chime every journey he wanted to get us to check it over and clean it up.

Initial inspection found little of note in the engine bay with no obvious rattles or leaks, but a tell tale bass note present given the age and mileage.

Initial diagnostics found the usual DPF codes for a vehicle of this mileage. BMWs of this vintage use a mileage countdown to flag up ‘end of life’ for the DPF which doesn’t really account for the vehicle/owner specific driving style, fuel quality used and journey lengths. We documented the codes present, reset the DPF mileage data and cleared the codes and error chime for the owner and none returned during the booking. The only persistent code was due to a failed oil level sensor that the owner can get sorted out.

Live data monitoring showed good values across most of the components with coolant temperature maintained around 85°C, DPF data suggesting normal back pressure values.

‍On with the clean and the bass note from the engine soon subsided as the engine smoothed out and by the end was quiet, smooth and responsive again with no chime and no hesitation.

Steve arrived to give my Jaguar xfs an engine carbon clean. Presently on 107,000 miles. Explained the process and was obviously very knowledgeable about the process and expected outcomes. And he was a thoroughly nice chap.
The V6 in the xfs is a quiet, smooth, powerful unit and I was not sure of what improvements I would get. Well, I’m impressed. The power delivery is smoother, the engine even quieter and 6 mpg better to boot.
If you want to do one thing to maintain and improve your motor, then this is what you should do.

Iv had the pleasure of having 2 Carbon cleans from both Adrian and Mark. Both lovely gentlemen and you can tell they love what they do. My car failed on emissions and this helped me get the car through the test, and at the time, I REALLY needed a pass because I couldn’t get anywhere. These guys saved me. Today Adrian from F5 Carbon7 DPF Clean came to de carbonise my xc60 he arrived bang on time he was very courteous and explained in great detail what the process was .
He set up within 5 minutes and went on to the diagnostics and talked me through what was coming up after a reset all was clear. It took about 1 hour in total great job well happy would definitely recommend Adrian well mannered gentleman.
