Was quite surprised at the difference at idle. I guess you don’t realise how ropey an engine is running until you hear the difference! Was hoping for an improvement in performance / response and we got it’
⚠️ Just bought a vehicle?
Here we have a BMW 118d (2006 – 104,937 miles) booked in for diagnostics and Engine Carbon Clean.
The owner has only recently purchased the vehicle with a warranty along with it so ideal time to get it checked out and cleaned up.
📊 Initial diagnostics showed codes for all 4 glowplugs which likely means the controller has gone, so suggested it all get replaced at the same time. There is also some evidence of a potential leak in the past from the vicinity of the EGR cooler so suggested that was investigated. A few other codes were documented for the owner. There was also some rattle from the clutch.
⚙️ Live data looked fine across the board so on with the clean. Within 10 minutes the engine had already smoothed out and the vibration had lessened and by the end was idling quietly, smooth and responsive again.
