Here we have an Audi A3 1.6 TDI (2011 – 114,076 miles) booked in for diagnostics consultation and Engine Carbon Clean. A recent purchase and the owner wanted to identify any issues before the warranty runs out and also get it cleaned up for the road ahead.

ℹ️ First up was to run the VIN through the EA189 Emissions ‘fix’ checker and sure enough this vehicle WAS affected and had already had the ‘fix’ applied. We discussed with the owner the implications and what he needed to be aware of.

Initial inspection found little of note in the engine bay although a tell tale bass note was present.

Initial diagnostics found a couple of codes related to the aftermarket head unit, but otherwise no issues logged.

Live data looked good across the board with coolant spot on at 90°C, DPF backpressure incredibly low explained by the fact that the last regeneration was just 9 miles ago.

‍On with the clean and the bass note soon dissipated, the enfine soon smoothed out, quietened down and the response returned.

I had issues with my DPF on my 4.4 Range Rover so hot in touch with F5 and Leon came out to me to carry out a DPF clean. Not only did he tell me exactly what he was going to do but carried out a full diagnostic on my car just to see if there was any underlying issues other than dpf. He gave a really good explanation of the process as he checked all the boost pipes and inter coolers for leaks He couldn’t have been anymore friendly than he was and certainly knew his stuff. Dpf all unblocked and engine is back to normal. Couldn’t recommend F5 enough.

Just had my car done by F5ECC. Adrian talked me though how the process works. This is the second Merc I have had done by him in 2020. C250cdi and now a C350e sport. Noticed straight away more mpg.
