đ Here we have an Audi A3 1.6 TDI (2011 – 114,076 miles) booked in for diagnostics consultation and Engine Carbon Clean. A recent purchase and the owner wanted to identify any issues before the warranty runs out and also get it cleaned up for the road ahead.
âšī¸ First up was to run the VIN through the EA189 Emissions ‘fix’ checker and sure enough this vehicle WAS affected and had already had the ‘fix’ applied. We discussed with the owner the implications and what he needed to be aware of.
đ Initial inspection found little of note in the engine bay although a tell tale bass note was present.
đģ Initial diagnostics found a couple of codes related to the aftermarket head unit, but otherwise no issues logged.
đ Live data looked good across the board with coolant spot on at 90°C, DPF backpressure incredibly low explained by the fact that the last regeneration was just 9 miles ago.
đ¨âđ§ On with the clean and the bass note soon dissipated, the enfine soon smoothed out, quietened down and the response returned.
