⚠️ Car wobbling at idle? Carbon buildup in the engine will cause the engine to shake and vibrate more, putting excessive wear and tear on the engine mounts.
Lovely crisp morning here in Grantham and a stunning Audi A5 2.0 TDI (2011 – 85,815 miles) booked in for diagnostics and Engine Carbon Clean after the owner was recommended to us by a previous customer.
⛑️ On arrival we could determine a wobble at idle which disappeared once we got to approx 1,400rpm which is normally down to engine mounts. No chatter from the clutch and with the wobble not being there between 1,200-1,800rpm then we could also rule out a flywheel/clutch issue.
📊 Diagnostics showed the injectors working fine and also no codes for sensors so all signs point to engine mounts. These 2.0 TDIs do seem to suffer with excessive engine mount wear from engine shake compared to most vehicles we see.
⚙️ On with the clean and after just 10 minutes the engine vibration subsided leaving just the wobble from the mounts so the owner can now get that addressed. Now quieter, smoother and responsive again.
